This is a politician with balls.
As you no doubt expected it is not a UK one. I'm talking about the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas. He seems to still think his party won the election. Clearly he sees the leader, himself, being followed the same way Arafat did.One thing though, he is certainly brave. He has warned the prime minister he would "exercise his authority" if the need arose. I'm not sure many politicians would go up against an organisation like Hamas and threaten to set up talks with Israel when the elected government has said they would not even recognise them. For one thing. Would it be of any use for him to act unilaterally? Why does he believe he still has power in this government? Something is going on.
I see him getting lead injections soon. Either that or having his body parts distributed over a large area.
