Security is only as good as it's weakest point.

So why is the US relaxing it's rules for passports? Read here.

Now I'm not an expert but would this not be a good time for the bad guys to travel.

I sometime wonder why we are introducing all these new laws and making people get rectally examined by customs when they clearly are Mr and Mrs Average and the only threat is they will complain bitterly yet they then just throw the doors open because it's getting a bit busy and people have not had the common sense to apply for a passport in enough time to actually get one.

Talk about left hand right hand.

What ****s me off about all this security crap is that we the citizens invariably suffer from the restrictions whereas terrorists sneak right through the loopholes and cracks... which begs the question why our govermnents want biometric data on us at all. I believe it has very little to do with fighting terrorism....
heaven forbid a dictator should ever get in power here. New Labour have done everything to smooth a tyrant's path to power.
O man and next week or so we get the unelected SCOTTISH Gordon Brown. Why doesn't he bugger off to Scotland and let us elect a new PM

Hope you're having a pleasant weekend

Well... I used to think that too. And then I realised that the people who work in airports tend to be not that clever. And so the government can't depend on them being able to judge anything properly. The government has to insist that it is simply policy that everyone takes their shoes off and that everyone only takes in one bag etc. It is a pain, but actually I don't think there is any way round it.

The fact that terrorists still manage to outsmart the system shows that even when the requirements of the not so clever people are not that demanding, they still can't get it right.

Whenever there are rules people who want to will find ways around them and those that know they won't get caught don't follow them. So only the truly law abiding get inconvenienced.
